While we strive to keep both our product prices and shipping costs as low as possible, rising carrier rates have made it necessary to adjust our shipping charges rather than increase the price of our kits.
Over the past two years, USPS rates have increased by more than 45%. During that time, we experimented with both free shipping and flat-rate shipping. Unfortunately, shipping costs to some areas now significantly exceed the flat rate we charge, even with our discounted carrier rates.
As a result, we will be eliminating flat-rate shipping and instead passing along our discounted calculated shipping rates. For most customers, the cost should remain close to the current flat rate. Customers in some rural or more distant areas may see a modest increase.
Free shipping will continue to be available on orders over $50, up to a maximum order value of $500. For orders over $500, please contact us before placing your order so we can work with you to determine the best shipping option for your needs.
This change does not affect shipments to U.S. territories or international destinations, which already use the lowest calculated shipping rates available to us.
We have chosen this approach so that shipping costs more closely reflect the actual cost of delivering each order while allowing us to keep the prices of our kits unchanged.
